To Vision into Now
At the beginning of this challenge I facilitated a retreat on
self-care. Sometimes when you facilitate
something for others, you may need that same experience—with even more
intensity. It, with this challenge,
offered an opening to me. My word for the year is “spaciousness.” I thought I would write about it this
month. Instead, through writing and
retreat, I created it. Or it created me.
One thing that I did on that retreat is I developed my first vision
board. Yesterday, I visited a
co-blogger’s site, Between the By-Road and the Main Road, and she shared her “bucket list” poem. My poem is my “vision into now” list. It was born on my board, written across the
pages with this challenge and lives in my heart.
A vision into my now—
Spaciousness
to be where I am,
to lighten my load
with some time for me.
My hut space to
illuminate
mindfully.
Creative expression
and
spiritual writing
emerge from my path
to the page.
Where I am.
My space to
dance,
eat for nourishment,
paint,
swim,
write
chill out
and be.
Where I am.
Spaciousness
with splashes of color
hues of violet, green
indigo and maize,
laced with flowers
and rippled water…
all create a space
where I am.
I dive right in.
Thank you to Two Writing Teachers for
dedicating space and time for teachers and teachers of literacy to come
together to share ideas, practice and life experience.
I love the board in all its intricacies, Deborah. How great that your writing month turned it around for you so you can enjoy the next day, week, and year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a celebration of your vision. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWriting ... to
ReplyDeleteemerge from the path
to the page,
from pen to notebook,
resting in the margins is where I reside,
a scribbled thought that requires
you to pay attention,
an arrow for direction,
a clue for connection,
a signal of hope that even in the writing,
you are never alone;
the reader follows on the journey, too.

Kevin, I have been honored to have you lift lines as comments for several of my posts this month. Thank you for your creativity and your wisdom, discovering in your words yet another direction. I love these lines--

Thank you!
There are few coincidences. I checked out the writer's retreat in Ireland you had mentioned the other day and then come here today and find these words:
ReplyDeleteMy hut space to
illuminate
mindfully.
It's that room to write, to be.
Years ago, Rob and I traveled through Ireland and we went through the town where the retreat is. I can recall this so clearly--25 years later and the place can be recalled. It was late day and we had been wandering and I can recall both of us were taken by the coastal town on the edge of Ireland. We stopped and lingered there before moving on.
And now, thanks to your mentioning, I can hear it call. It's in my bones.
A hut of some sort. A spaciousness, yes.
I love that we both share Anam Cara--in our bones.
DeleteIf you envision it, it can become a reality. I hope all your visions come true for you, sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to create - a space to write, be, dream.
ReplyDeleteDear Deb, Thank you for welcoming us into your hut space, always so mindfully, always so thoughtfully. You are a wonderful teacher, and I learn from watching you live and write with such grace. xo, a.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your vision board and seeing those powerful bolded words - I AM. And now I'm off to explore that bucket list from your fellow blogger.
