REFLECTIONS DURING A DAY AT THE LAKE

I was on retreat this weekend.  I stilled my busy life and pondered life.  I slowed my mind and began to observe the changes of the lake over the course of the day.  The haikus below were written during various changes of the lake across that day.

Sleepy lake awakes—
Fog haze leaves as sun cracks through.
Clarity beckons.

Diamonds dance on sea—
Be with me, sparkles summon.
Ring of Love offered.

Silently, I walk.
Waves meet me with rippling song.
I sing with the sea.

Stone skims sea’s surface
I stare through fractured water
To the rock sea floor

Snow still dots the land
As geese honk northward bound.
Soon it will be spring.

Stillness unbroken,
ducks glide in dream like silence
across the tranquil sea.

Dusk mirrors the lake
with shades of pink and yellow.
Soon the earth will sleep.

Night fall covers you.
Your sparkles rest in darkness.
Sleep well, my lovely.
