HOLDER OF STORIES

Thank you to Stacey and to Ruth for hosting all of our stories and being a conduit for their telling this past month.  I was first introduced to the Story Teller figurines when I was in New Mexico in 2007.   The figurines tell their story and hold others as a means for them also to tell their story.   Together through the voice of the Storyteller, all of the stories are told.   I can’t think of a more a fitting analogy for this website and for the graciousness of Ruth and Stacey this past month.  Thank you for being the vessel that has allowed all of us to sing our stories.  Thank you for being the vessel from which we could begin to listen to each other and respond.  Together  we have made beautiful music.
Together we have made beautiful music!

I hold my story,
You listen and release it—
Together we sing.

  3. The vessel - yes, that is it. Without it, the stories fall away. They need to be held.

  4. I love those figurines! A vessel to hold stories, so perfect. The blog becomes the vessel for me to hold on to the bits of life that may evaporate.

  5. What a great analogy...the Story Teller figures...holding and being a vessel for all of our stories. This shows exactly what the Slice has been...and what each of our blogs is. I started mine to tell family stories...and it has become the holder for my family and friends...just like the Story Teller figure. Beautiful post! Jackie http://familytrove.blogspot.com/

  10. I've been to New Mexico many times, & even here in Colorado, many storyteller dolls are seen. I have a little one myself, & love that you used this for your final post, Deborah. I'm still trying to catch up my comments, & missed yours yesterday. Welcome April!

  11. Aren't these figures quite beautiful. I was taken with them when I visited NM in 2007 and they have been an image for me since. I thought they were a fitting image for the close of this year's SOLC. I am looking forward to continuing this blog and experimenting with how I want to use this space for my writing and thoughts. Thanks for all of your support!
